Duty on petrol and diesel for propulsion to jump 2 pence per litre from Monday following Pre-Budget Report
Marine fuel will be more expensive from Monday, after the Chancellor’s Pre-budget Report on 24 November.
On 1 December, propulsion diesel duty will jump 2 pence per litre (ppl) from 50.35ppl to 52.35ppl.
The same rate will apply to petrol.
Meanwhile, duty on rebated diesel, or the fuel that makes up 40% of your tank if you’re declaring the standard 60/40 split at the pump, is also going up, from 9.69ppl currently to 10.07ppl.
The increases don’t stop there. On 1 April, duty on petrol and diesel for propulsion will rise to 54.19ppl, and rebated diesel will head up to 10.42ppl.
There will be no change to VAT, with a rate of 5% applicable for the entire diesel purchase.
See the HM Revenue & Customs document detailing the changes here.
