View dramatic footage of a man being airlifted to safety as his boat sinks in a swollen river in Croatia
A man clutches desperately to his boat as the swollen river pulls it into its waters and rescue workers battle to save him from a similar peril.
This was the scene that unfolded as the River Sava in the north west of Croatia became swollen following heavy rain in the neighbouring country of Slovenia.
According to the BBC’s report, rescue workers had been trying to save the boat for a couple of hours and they were only able to coax the 56-year-old man away from his boat at the last moment.
