Charity adds 44th station - partly thanks to singer and activist Billy Bragg
A new National Coastwatch station has opened in Lyme Bay – partly thanks to the fund-raising efforts of singer and activist Billy Bragg.
The well-known singer and Dorset resident helped raise money for the station at Burton Bradstock, which is one of 44 Coastwatch stations around the coast monitoring activity on the sea.
National Coastwatch is a charity staffed entirely by volunteers that is able to raise the alarm to any potential emergencies on the sea or coast.
The Lyme Bay station covers one of the most popular sections of the Dorset coast, where there have been 15 serious incidents in the last two years.
