Liverpool Marina becomes the latest major sponsor for the inaugural event
Liverpool Marina has thrown its support behind the Liverpool Boat Show with an investment of £250,000.
In return Liverpool Marina will receive a 20% shareholding in Marine Industry Events (MIE), the company that will deliver the boat show, and bosses David Beard and Dave Murray will also sit on the management board.
The company joins fellow partners Liverpool City Council and British Waterways in backing the event, which will take place around the city’s Albert Dock from April 29 to May 8 2011.
Organisers are predicting more than 300,000 people will visit the boat show and Sealine, Fairline and Sunseeker have all agreed to exhibit.
Mr Beard said, “This is an important day for us and we are delighted to be on board with MIE who have done such a fantastic job in bringing the Liverpool Boat Show to life.”
“Most of the great coastal cities of the world can boast attractive recreational water space and a vibrant marina, but few are in Liverpool’s class.”
Liverpool Marina, which is situated in the South Docks complex, adjacent to where the boat show is to be held, already has some 350 permanent pontoon berths, a bar, conference facilities and a 200-cover restaurant which is earmarked as the main venue for exhibitors’ after-event entertainment.
It has the area’s only lift-out crane and boat yard facilities and also offers a full range of engineering, chandlery and boat sales on site by supply partners.
David Murray said, “There are so many
ways in which Liverpool Marina can help to bring this event together.
We’ve committed to a substantial expansion in visitor moorings so we can
accommodate the flood of enquiries we’ve already from
all parts of the west coast and Ireland who want to sail to the Boat
Show.”
