The latest issue of Motor Boat & Yachting is out now!

In the June issue of Motor Boat & Yachting, we review the Fairline Squadron 53, Bavaria R40 Coupe and XO DFNDR plus John Boyle takes his V39 to Norway

The big news in this issue of Motor Boat & Yachting is that our intrepid adventurer John Boyle is back with another epic voyage on his Princess V39. Thus far he has treated us to a delivery trip from Mallorca back to his home berth in Falmouth and the hidden delights of the Cornish coast but this time he’s heading north… very north.

In the latest four-part series he is taking Cecienne from home in Cornwall up to the Arctic Circle in Norway. It’s quite the trip and you can watch part one here.

Elsewhere in the cruising section we have Peter Cumberlidge’s guide to the Isles of Scilly and the great story of a family cruising around Brittany in their open 9m RIB, proving that boat size and budget needn’t quash your cruising ambitions.

It’s a sportscruiser special in the Boat Master section as Nick Burnham is tasked with finding a 30ft sportscruiser for a snip and gets under the skin of the Sunseeker Portofino 48/San Remo to see how it stacks up as a secondhand buy.

In the How to section, we look at what emergency equipment you should keep in your grab bag and, in Our Boats, new contributor Peter Watson introduces his FPB 78 and John Wolf details the off-season upgrades to his Fairline Squadron 78.

In New Tech we feature the fascinating Solarwave 64 powercat, the first long-range, all-electric boat plus, in the Tried & Tested pages, we test International Micron 99 antifouling, the Musto Corsica BR1 jacket and Helly Hansen deck shoes.

The Fairline Squadron 53 is put to the test

Let’s not forget about the boat tests because we have some big ones this month. The cover star is the Fairline Squadron 53 which aims to take on the likes of the Sunseeker Manhattan 52 and Sealine F530 with a top quality finish and an impressive amount of customisation.

At the other end of the scale Jack Haines gets a white knuckle wild on the seriously focussed XO DFNDR and, somewhere in the middle, the Bavaria R40 Coupe offers two ensuite double cabins and year-round usability.

Enjoy the issue and be sure to check out our videos section for more.
