Last day wash out at the PSP Southampton Boat Show

Torrential downpour can't take shine off a good week

With a low pressure front promised for Sunday, savvy visitors made for Southampton on Saturday, making it one of the busiest show days of the week. The halls were packed and the boats on the pontoons mobbed with viewings. But it was a very different picture on Sunday.

The heavens truly opened, sending people scampering for shelter. The empty pontoons whirred with the sound of onboard diesel heaters, while heavily wrapped-up exhibitors resembled skiers more than boaters.

As the weather worsened some stands started to the show the strain. Awnings fell away and food stalls were closed due to flooding. On the upside, the indoor halls did some good business, with their moderately captive audiences.
