Organisers seek help from local boat owners
Organisers of the Round Britain Powerboat Race are seeking the help of boat owners willing to go on patrol on the day the race passes through their local sea area.
The race starts from Portsmouth on June 21 and runs for 10 days, traveling clockwise.
Boats between the Solent and Plymouth, Plymouth to Milford Haven, on the Isle of Man, and in Northern Ireland are urgently needed.
Others based on the west and east coasts of Scotland down to Edinburgh, Newcastle and the English east coast are also vital to the safety of the event.
All patroling crews will be in direct communication with the Safety Officer and his team working from various Coastguard stations around the coast.
All racing craft will be fitted with a Marinetrack unit, giving their exact position, thereby making anyone seeking help that much easier to find.
