Buy a boat, get free green advice
The RYA and BMF’s Green Blue project has teamed up with Hamble-based motor yacht brokerage Inwards Limited to help educate their clients in all things eco-friendly.
From now on each boat sold by Inwards will include a special eco-pack of items to help promote environmentally sensitive boating.
Richard Inwards, Managing Director of Inwards Limited, said: “We are delighted to get involved with The Green Blue, and to be leading the way on such a fundamentally important issue.
“The sea is the biggest asset that boaters have, so it’s vitally important that we look after it.
“We want do everything we can to look after it and the items available in this pack all offer useful, practical ways of helping keep our seas clean.
“Basically, with every boat sold we will include one of these eco-packs and put The Green Blue’s best practice advice in the handover folders.”
Items include a spill kit to contain any minor fuel spillages, a bilge sock to soak up oil in the bilge and a range of environmentally sensitive cleaning products, all of which will help to minimise the environmental impact of boating, the Green Blue say.
Lex Bancroft, Development Officer at The Green Blue, said: “Brokers have a really great opportunity to educate people and reduce the environmental impact of boating.
“We hope that other brokers will follow Inwards’ example and help to advise clients about the many ways in which they can help make boating a greener sport.”
The first eco- packs will be included on all Inwards boats from the end of this month.
