Honda is already revving up for the Southampton International Boat Show
Petrolheads everywhere will be homing in on Honda’s stand at the Southampton International Boat Show 2001, starting 14 September. As befits the world’s most prolific manufacturer of engines, their stand will be an altar to internal combustion.
This includes one of the Honda-powered Jordan F1 cars, the BF130 4-Stroke outboard that power the Formula 4-Stroke powerboats right down to their 2hp outboard and the range of auxiliary generators.
The Formula 4-Stroke powerboats – now the largest single powerboat class in the world – will upgrade next year to the all-new 225hp V6 4-stroke at the end of this year but they’re keeping that under wraps until the London international Boat Show 2002.
In case you’re wondering about just how big their stand is, they have six at the Southampton show this year and two pontoons, one of which will be a big hit with Steve Curtis wannabes. Honda is offering the chance to take a 30-50 minute test drive in one of their Formula 4-Stroke powerboats on Southampton Water.
“Southampton Boat Show is now one of Honda’s most important exhibitions. Whether our engines are on the water or on the race track enjoying your engine is a key aspect of the brand, that’s why we decided SIBS was the perfect showcase for all of our fun and leisure products,” said Tom Gardner, Marketing Manager, Power Equipment, Honda (UK).
Every facet of motorsport and motorleisure, on track or water, will be represented and when you’ve checked out everything, you can recover in the Honda Racing Café while watching the machines themselves in action on big screens.
