David Cowley and Chris Jary driving Lings Racing take the chequered flag
In a closely fought 150hp race on Sunday, Saturday’s winners David Cowley and Chris Jary in Lings Racing battled hard with Jerry McArthur and Jonny Twelvetrees in Salcombe Racing to take the chequered flag in emphatic style. Setting the fastest average speed of the race at 52mph, the Suffolk based team now lay second in the championship standings, one point behind Salcombe Racing.
“It’s been an incredible weekend,” said Cowley. “We made another great start which was vital but we were pushed hard from the word go by Salcombe Racing. We had to keep focused throughout the race as the smallest lapse in concentration would have meant us losing top spot. It’s a great feeling and we can’t wait for Liverpool”.
Graham Foster-Vigors and Harry Armer of Team Ebel, who had a difficult start to the weekend, skillfully worked their way through the fleet to secure the final podium position.
In an adrenalin filled 225hp race, Gavin Parsonage and Nathan Libby in Negotiator battled with local competitor Shelley Jory and navigator Libby Keir in Team Raymarine,who led for seven action packed laps, to take the chequered flag for the second time over the weekend.
“What a fantastic race”, said Parsonage. “Shelly and Libby’s pace meant that we had to push that extra yard. They’re always great competition wherever we race but we knew in particular we’d struggle on Team Raymarine’s local waters to maintain our winning form this weekend so it’s a great result for us”.
“This has been a great example of why we established the championship back in 1999,” said Martin Sanders, General Manager, Honda (UK) Power Equipment. “There was so much action on the water, with every team fighting their own battle no matter what their position. The series is poised for a fantastic finale in Liverpool next month.”
