Honda remain with powerboating after Formula 1 pull-out
Despite announcing their withdrawal from Formula 1 motor racing, Honda UK remain committed to powerboating and have issued their provisional calendar for 2009 Formula 4-Stroke championship season.
The five race season will begin in Pwllheli over the weekend of 9th/10th May and end in the Isle of Man in September. Two new venues feature on the 20 race programme.
“Each venue chosen for 2009 has proven expertise in hosting major powerboat events and the required resources and knowledge to help us to deliver our show to a high standard”, said Steve Curtis – Director of the series.
Honda, which now has one of the longest running sponsorship deals in the motor sport industry with this series are looking forward to next year’s celebrations as they reach a mile-stone tenth year anniversary as title sponsor. It is also in 2009 that the Honda Formula 4-Sroke series will host its 100th race day, the date of which will be announced at the start of next season’s racing. The series organiser, which has built on its long-term relationships with host cities across the UK, is pleased to say the calendar has been enthusiastically welcomed by all teams as well as Councils across the board.
“Each Grand Prix weekend will be planned, developed and marketed to its full potential”, said Alan Goodwin – Commercial Manager, F4SA.
