Hastings Lifeboat Station has announced a week-long programme of events to celebrate its 150th anniversary. Festivities will commence on Saturday 5th April with the official naming ceremony for the RNLI station’s new D-class inshore lifeboat, the Daphne May.
An open day will be held on Sunday 6th when Daphne May, together with the station’s 12m Mersey class offshore lifeboat, will be joined by former station boat Fairlight and the restored 121-year-old pulling and sailing lifeboat Queen Victoria. A programme of evening events will take place at the station during the week, and celebrations will culminate on Sunday 13th April with a boat parade along Hastings seafront followed by a fireworks display from the harbour arm.
