Thick fog and a wave throw President Bush's boat up on to a beach
Former US President George Bush Senior hit rock bottom when his fishing boat ran aground in thick fog on a beach near his home in Maine, New England.
The 38ft sportsfisher Fidelity IV drew strange looks from tourists as it sat stranded on Gooch’s Beach at low tide until it was returned to its dock in Kennebunkport a few hours later.
Mr Bush’s spokesman Jim Appleby said Mr Bush was cruising close to shore in low visibility when a wave pushed his boat on to the beach.
The former president and some family members were aboard when the boat ran aground but no-one was hurt.
