Garmin increases its mass-market share by going into partnership with Bayliner
From September all new Bayliner models will be fitted with state-of-the-art Garmin navigational electronics.
Commenting on the decision to choose Garmin as an electronic partner over its competitors, Betsy Lazzara, Bayliner’s vice president and brand manager, said, “Our primary goal is to make boating fun and attainable to everyone.
“To that end, Garmin electronics feature intuitive designs and clear menus making navigating and communicating easier.”
Bayliner, which builds runabouts and cruisers from 16ft to 33ft, already uses Garmin electronics on its cruiser models and this agreement will cement the complete integration throughout the product by September when the 2011 model year begins.
The deal is expected to help Garmin increase its market share against its main competitor Raymarine, which was bought by US company FLIR Systems in May.
