Foot and Mouth restrictions on Thames

Avoid agricultural and open land, EA urges boaters

Mooring on the Thames between Dumsey Meads and Chertsey Bridge has been prohibited until further notice due to the recent discovery of Foot and Mouth Disease in the southeast, the Environment Agency (EA) has advised.

Further restrictions are in place between Old Windsor and Walton, and between Bray and Teddington. On these stretches, the EA urges all boaters to only moor in urban areas and to avoid visiting agricultural or open land.

Pets should also be kept on boats when travelling through these areas, the EA said.
