The UK’s first Zapcat course has been launched in Scotland.
The course, which teaches participants how to drive the twin-hulled inflatables in surf and at speed, is being taught by OTT Events, formerly known as Outdoor Training Team, one of the largest providers of land and water based multi-activity trips in Scotland.
OTT say: “There are currently no specific RYA courses for Zapcat drivers or pilots. With the sport really taking off and more new pilots hitting the water (literally in some cases) and given the fact that we have some great expertise and experience, we felt now is the time to offer this course.”
Zapcats were originally developed for surf rescue in South Africa but have now been converted for racing and the UK series is one of the strongest in the world.
They are fitted with 35hp outboards and have tremendous acceleration and turning capability.
The OTT Events course takes place on 22 and 23 March, costing £125.
