Two pilots already signed up
Conam Yachtsdriven by reigning SuperSport champions Angelo Tedeschi and Aaron Ciantar last year is set to stay with Powerboat P1 in 2009, despite its original crew stepping into a new boat. The Mercury-powered Chaudron 41 hull was the clear class leader in 2008 winning all but one race: a result which gave it the title for a second consecutive year.
Tedeschi and Ciantar are taking on a new challenge in the Ukranian-backed, Ilmor-poweredUkrainian SpiritChaudron hull although Racing Project team boss Tedeschi says that he’s keen to enterConam Yachtswith a new team – hopefully an all-female crew!
“The world champion boat cannot stop racing, and we’re working to find a main sponsor to allowConam Yachtscan stay with P1 in 2009,” says Tedeschi. “We already have the two woman pilots and we are confident we can find a sponsor for P1’s first ‘all-girl’ team.
“I can imagine the interest this will create but, at the same time, a little worried that they will to beat us. Believe me, they are excellent drivers.”
