Fiat Powertrain Technologies to present special award for improved effort
The Fiat Powertrain Technologies, senior business partners of the Round Britain 2008, will award a special Trophy and prize to the crew that is able to increase its performance more than any other competitor in the race.
The spirit is to award not only the overall winner, but the boat that makes the most relevant improvement day by day, mile after mile.
To be eligible for the trophy and the prize the boat must be classified as a finisher of every leg of the race. The Fiat Powertrain winner will be chosen from the seven classes taking part.
The competition will be divided in to two legs: the first from Portsmouth to Oban the second from Inverness to Portsmouth. The average speed in the first part of the race will be compared to the average speed in the second half. The competitor with the largest percentage improvement will be the winner of the Fiat Powertrain Technologies Trophy and prize.
With this rule, every boat has the same chance of winning.
