Two massively important boats, two consecutive issues of Motor Boat & Yachting
Two of the most important boats to be launched this year – the Fairline Targa 48 Open and Princess V48 – are going head to head in consecutive issues of Motor Boat & Yachting.
The Targa 48 Open, which was launched this week at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, is our September issue cover star, while the full report on the Princess V48 will feature in our October issue.

The Targa 48 Open is Fairline’s first completely new boat for over a year, and is the first of the company’s models to use resin infusion manufacturing. The model will be followed by a Squadron 48 to be launched at the PSP Southampton Boat Show and Targa 48 Gran Turismo.
This first boat is powered by twin 435hp IPS600s, which should see it hitting around 32-33 knots flat out.
Check out some great aerial running video of the boat on our Facebook page and don’t miss the full write-up in the September issue of the magazine, out 4 August.
The Princess V48, meanwhile, will feature in our October issue, and is a direct rival for the Oundle yard’s new Targa. It comes with the same 435hp IPS600s as the Fairline model, and should hit a similar top speed.

This first V48 has a proper enclosed saloon with a hard roof with a dinette and gallery below decks and the option of a third cabin. An open version, much more like the Targa 48 Open, is in the works and should be available soon.
