Glastron’s new 160GT and 170GT sportsboats were officially launched at the yard’s dealer meeting in Cadillac, Michigan, this week and they look the absolute business
Judging by the few pictures we have seen, Glastron has got the styling spot on with its new range of starterboats, with a sweeping line and a hint of retro cool.
The 160GT pictured pays homage to sportsboat greats of the past with its fixed bow design and features such as stitched upholstery in the cockpit and an old-school windscreen. Power will be all-outboard with performance likely to get close to 50mph.
The best feature about these new boats though might be their price, with news that Glastron is expected to offer the GT range at very competitive prices.
James Barke from importers Essex Boatyards told us he was very excited about the launch, “We see the GTs as the boats to reignite the starterboat sector,” he said.
“There are lots of fun options allowing owners to personalise their boats, in much the same way as the new Mini does, and we will be working very hard to keep the pricing down to help get people on the water.”
A 160GT will be exhibited at this year’s PSP Southampton Boat Show, with a wider range on show at London in January 2012.
