Do you like lava?
As private getaways go, your own Canary Island is pretty hard to beat.
But for the reported asking price of ?9 million, on Montaña Clara just north of Lanzarote, you don’t get much.
The 2.7 cubic kilometre volcanic island has a building restriction because it’s part of the Chinijo Nature Park.
There is, however, a 25 square metre hut, but otherwise it’s just you and several million tons of age-old lava. For boaters, there is a natural harbour formed by the volcano.
The island was bought 50 years ago by López Socas, then the Mayor of Haría on Lanzarote.
