Dutch firm Neptune Marine has announced that it will be launching its new flagship model the Elling E6 in May 2016
Power and performance
Power comes from a single 900hp Volvo Penta D13 and giving a top speed of 18 knots, while the 5,000-litre fuel tanks should allow the E6 to cross the Atlantic without stopping for diesel.
Elling E6 owners will also be able to specify an auxiliary 75hp Volvo Penta D2 wing engine to help them limp home at 7 knots in the event of an emergency.
As you would expect from any serious explorer’s boat, the Elling E6 will come with Kabola central heating, double glazed windows and eight-layer insulation to keep the crew comfy, even in extreme conditions.
Another benefit of this design is that noise levels in the pilot house and saloon will be very quiet – Neptune Marine predicts a maximum of 70dBA at top speed.
Other new features on the E6 include a Seakeeper 9 Gyro stabilisation system to reduce roll by up to 80%, even at anchor.
No flybridge variant will be made available, but Neptune Marine does fit a pneumatically sealing, sliding roof as the next best thing for wind-in-your-hair cruising.
The price is yet to be confirmed, however the company has claimed that it will be “unrivalled” in its class.
