Glass hardtop, three cabins, IPS drives
Elan have launched their flagship 48 combining a sociable cockpit with three-cabin accommodation or a very spacious two-cabin arrangement.
The cockpit benefits from a retractable, glass hard top combining the advantages of an open boat with the protection of a hardtop. With IPS drives the boat can reach 34 knots using twin 575hp Volvo diesels although there is also a V-drive option.
The Elan Power 35 and 42 have already won a reputation for tidy sea keeping and the new 48 should provide stiff competition for boats like the Fairline Targa 47. Elan are scheduled to launch the 48 at Düsseldorf Boat Show in 2008 but have not yet announced any prices.
