Work has begun on the largest Sunseeker to date, the 155 Yacht
Sunseeker founder Robert Braithwaite yesterday applied the first layer of gel-coat inside the vast, empty mould of the all-new Sunseeker 155 Yacht.
Commissioned by ex-Formula One race team owner Eddie Jordan, the finished yacht is due to be launched in December 2013.
The new flagship of the British yard’s fleet will have cabins for up to 12 guests and 10 crew.
It will also be Sunseeker’s first superyacht to feature a proper beach club at the stern complete with folding bathing platform, opening garage doors for the transversely mounted tenders and a lower deck dayroom where guests can hang out at the water’s edge.
Massive fuel tanks give the yacht a cruising range of 4,500 nautical miles.
Paying tribute to the design and engineering teams, who have already been working on the plans for three years, Robert Braithwaite said: “Today is the beginning of the manufacturing process that will make my dream a reality.
“She will not be owned by many but those that do will be buying a craft of exceptional style, quality and innovation.”
