Access to Penton Hook is currently restricted following a double tragedy there yesterday
Police have recovered the bodies of two men from the waters around Penton Hook Lock following a double drowning there yesterday.
Surrey Police said that it received the initial emergency call at 2.30pm yesterday afternoon saying that two men had gone into the water at the lock, on the Thames, near Staines.
Earlier today a spokesperson for Surrey Police said,”The body of a man in his twenties was recovered and taken to St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey and officers are continuing to search for another man who has yet to be located.
“Officers searched last night until all light was lost and the search continued at first light this morning with assistance from a dive team from Sussex Police.”
Police now say that the body of a second man believed to be in his late teens or early twenties was recovered at around 1.45pm this afternoon.
The families of the two men have been notified although formal identification is still to take place.
