A dog shot its owner after accidentally treading on a loaded shotgun
The unnamed 46-year-old man had just stepped off his boat when the gun went off and 27 pellets of birdshot struck him in his backside.
The accident happened on the Great Salt Lake in Utah while he was out duck hunting with a friend, and he stepped off the boat to set decoys.
“The dog got excited and was jumping around in the boat,” said Box Elder County Sheriff’s deputy, Kevin Potter, “then it jumped on the gun and it went off.”
Neither the dog nor the other man on the boat was harmed, but the unlucky hunter was taken to a local hospital to have the pellets removed.
