Don't dump it just anywhere, say The Green Blue
A directory of pump-out facilities is available on the Green Blue’s website to encourage inshore boaters to keep the seas clean.
The Green Blue, an environmental initiative promoting green boating, is hoping to persuade owners of the benefits of emptying their holding tanks into dedicated facilities.
The scheme has supported boat rubbish recycling and pump-out facilities in Salcombe and this month also announces its support of a new pump-out facility in Bristol Harbour.
It is the first of four new floating waste disposal facilities in the harbour. The Green Blue’s contribution will also go towards buying a multi-purpose workboat to collect flotsam and jetsam and other floating rubbish.
Project Manager Sarah Black said: ‘The Harbour provides shelter to over 500 boats and sustains a variety of wildlife. The Green Blue is keen to see the installation of more pump-out facilities so that they are easily accessible to the wide variety of boats and craft with holding tanks.’
