David is the first of six celebrities that Vector has recruited to the iRace Pro Team and their adventures will be filmed for a TV documentary series.
As well as being a world-famous model, David’s driving experience includes completing the Mille Miglia in a Jaguar with Jodie Kidd earlier this year.
“I have a real passion for speed and nothing compares to the exhilaration and experience of driving a V40R powerboat with 2,200hp at your fingertips,” he said.
Malcolm Crease, CEO of Vector Martini Racing, praised David Gandy’s approach to the project as “highly motivated and professional”.
“His experience and involvement will bring a whole new lifestyle dynamic to our unique programme,” Malcolm added.
The announcement comes as the Vector Martini team prepares to defend its title at the Cowes-Torquay-Cowes powerboat race on September 6.
