New arrangements announced after Monaco refused permission to fleet to enter port
Organisers of next year’s Cowes to Monte Carlo race have announced that the race will still finish off Monaco after the principality refused permission for the fleet to enter the port.
After the teams are flagged across the line on June 22, they will have to double back for a seven-mile run to Nice, which is understood to be more than happy to accommodate the boats.
The name of the new finishing port was revealed to teams at a second race briefing on November 24 in Portsmouth (pictured).
Race president Mike Lloyd also confirmed that no major sponsor exists at this time but that the race will take place next June regardless.
The event does have the support of some smaller sponsors while several teams have their own financial backing.
