Azimut will launch the 55 flybridge and Atlantis 51 sportscruiser at Düsseldorf
Stand 6/D58
Launching at Düsseldorf and wading into battle with the Princess 55 and Sunseeker Manhattan 52 among others, the 55 from Azimut boasts a Stefano Righini exterior and an interior styled by renowned interior designer Achille Salvagni in a new partnership with Azimut.
It’s a brave interior devoid of hard edges and sharp corners, opting instead for curvaceous furniture and smooth radii.
Below decks there is a three-cabin layout including a full-beam master amidships, which gets an angled berth to make the most of the floorspace, a VIP in the bow and a starboard twin cabin with a shared bathroom.
The flybridge extends a long way aft, supported by a pair of uprights in the cockpit, meaning a good mix of fixed seating and sunbathing space away from the optional hardtop.
A pair of 800hp Volvo Penta diesels on shafts should be good for 31 knots flat out.
It’s great to see Azimut’s Atlantis range back with a new model and fresh styling from the men behind Neo Design.
It’s a striking boat with a sharply angled bow, sweeping roofline and attention-grabbing streaks of glass dominating both topsides.
It’s a sportscruiser of the old school with an open-backed cockpit that leads out to a generous slab of sunpad under which is a tender garage. Azimut has cleverly moved the wet bar as far forward as possible to fit a pair of pull-out stools opposite the dinette, and we love the houndstooth upholstery.
Below decks, the master cabin forward and guest cabins amidships are split by a U-shaped dinette and compact galley.
Guests are catered for in either a queen-size double that can convert into a pair of singles or a bunk bed cabin on the port side, though neither cabin is ensuite.
IPS800 (600hp) is the only engine option but should be good for 35 knots.
