Cormate SL23: First design revealed for 80-knot speedster

Fine Design Marine have revealed the design for the Cormate SL23, which will be available in three guises: standard, super and sport

Cormate was one of the stars of this year’s London Boat Show with its eye-catching T27, and now the brand is planning an even faster model – the Cormate SL23.

SL stands for super-light and as we all know, when lightness and power combine you can end up with some pretty punchy performance.

In the case of the Cormate SL23, power will be available in a wide range of guises, from a 115-150hp Mercury outboard, to a 250-350hp Mercruiser inboard and even a 250-400hp Verado outboard.

The latter should be able to propel this 25-degree deep vee stepped hull to a top speed of around 80 knots, as part of the Sport edition, which also comes with a carbon-reinforced hull, DTS racing controls, and 12-inch chartplotter.

Cormate fans who want a little more luxury can plump for the Super edition, which features teak decking, a mahogany dashboard and inboard engine options.

Prices are yet to be revealed, but the most affordable model is likely to be the Cormate SL23 Standard edition, which swaps the teak and mahogany for anti-slip surfaces, plastic rub rails and the more frugal 115-150hp outboard options.

Regardless of the specification you choose, the layout features a double berth below decks, sea toilet, galley, teak cockpit table, forward sundeck and a convertible aft area that can create a second sunlounger.

Designed and built in Norway, the Cormate range is imported into the UK by Poole-based brokerage firm Fine Design Marine.
