Hopes of Wigton turns its hand to selling marine gear for the first time
A classic 1963 Albatross motor launch (pictured) will be up for grabs on 29 October when an auction house in Wigton more known for livestock sales turns its hand to selling boats and boat gear.
This will be the first ever time Hopes of Wigton has had a marine sale, and organisers are hoping for a success.
“We’re going to find out if we sink or swim,” the Cumbrian company’s Stephen Farthing said, “but fingers crossed we’ll have another one in March or April next year.”
Up for grabs is everything from fishing equipment and lifejackets to outboards and boats.
What makes this auction unique is buyers will only pay the hammer price, as Hopes does not charge a buyer’s premium.
The sale will start at 1pm on 29 October. For a full list of what’s up for grabs, download this pdf file .
