It's all happening on the opening day of the 42nd PSP Southampton Boat Show
It’s begun – the 42nd PSP Southampton Boat Show, and the early news is that Dragons’ Den star Theo Paphitis is an avid MBY reader.
We sat down with the business mogul on the Sunseeker stand to talk about his latest purchase – a Sunseeker 30M Yacht.
He told MBY that he started boating four and a half years ago with a 40-footer, and quickly began upgrading through a series of boats until his latest purchase of the 30-metre monster.
Elsewhere, Sealine have launched their F42, which is winning plaudits from all who climb aboard her. Fairline hit back a bit later by cutting the ribbon on the Squadron 42. Sales figures for both boats will make fascinating reading.
Katherine Jenkins entertained a large crowd in launching the Sunseeker 40M Yacht, and not to be outdone, Princess introduced three boats to the crowds – the V52, 64 flybridge and revamped flybridge 42.
Broom, despite recent news, is in attendance – but without any boats. The two men at the helm of the firm, Mark Garner and Akis Chrisovelides, told MBY that they were looking to take orders for new boats and continue production.
TV’s Nick Hancock and Dawn Porter officially opened the show, and a low-flying Spitfire elicited a lot of “oohs” from the pontoons.
MBY has been tweeting throughout the day – check out the brief video of Katherine Jenkins – and if that’s not enough, take a look at our boat show gallery.
