A 5ft-high model of HMS Victory is for sale, raising funds for donkeys worldwide.
The Sidmouth-based Donkey Sanctuary is giving maritime enthusiasts the chance to own their own model of NelsonÕs HMS Victory, in a fundraising drive for donkeys around the world.
The charity’s prized model of the worldÕs oldest commissioned warship, sited in PortsmouthÕs Royal Naval Dockyard, was hand crafted by a Donkey Sanctuary supporter in Ireland, who donated it to the organisation for fundraising purposes.
It sits in a glass presentation case and measures nearly 5ft by 3ft.
Debbie Pearce, the sanctuaryÕs head of fundraising and marketing, said: “We are incredibly grateful to our supporter who donated this model to us. Hours of work have gone into its construction and we hope to receive a reasonable offer to reflect this. The level of detail is amazing.”
The Donkey was founded in 1969 and since then has found homes for more than 11,500 donkeys and mules. Overseas, more than 133,000 veterinary treatments are provided to working donkeys each year.
