BRP launches greener, redesigned Evinrude E-TEC G2 outboard

The all-new G2 outboard was unveiled over the weekend, with a bold new look and 75% less emissions

BRP Evinrude has unveiled its first redesigned outboard engine since 2003 with the introduction of the E-TEC G2.

There’s much more to this model than a bold new cowling, however as the performance figures are equally impressive.

BRP is claiming that the new E-TEC G2 range will generate 20% more torque than its four-stroke rivals, while improving fuel efficiency by 15% and cutting regulated emissions by 75%.

The much-hyped V6 range, which was unveiled at an industry event in Milwaukee over the weekend (14 June), includes models from 200-300hp.

As part of the redesigned look, Evinrude’s first since 2003, owners will be able to choose from five different colours to match their boat, while the exclusive five-year engine and corrosion warranties remain in place.

What’s more, as with every Evinrude, there is no dealer-scheduled maintenance for the first 500 hours of use.

But the performance and efficiency figures will make the real difference, with Chris Dawson from BRP Evinrude claiming that “this engine produces, by far, the fewest emissions of any outboard engine on the water”.

BRP Evinrude dealers will take delivery of the new E-TEC G2 range in the autumn, with prices still to be confirmed.
