Saturday 8th July
Day 1
Position – Mercury Marina, Hamble
50°52′.275 N 001 18 606 W
With 21 boats assembled in Mercury Marina, Hamble and a few boats in the Poole and Christchurch area, all crews gathered for the inaugural cruise briefing at 1800hrs. Neale Byart addressed the fleet, informing them that unfortunately the weather will not be permitting a move tomorrow. The fleet of 27 boats in total were due in Weymouth tomorrow. The forecast is predicting Force 5-6’s in the Solent.
When the briefing was over a pre-organised pontoon party assembled in the picnic area in front of the marina office. Crews mingled for the first time as the wine flowed.
