Book now for RYA muster in Cowes

Masterclasses, talks and drinks

The final places are up for grabs at the RYA’s Autumn Muster for motorboaters and sailors.

The event takes place over the weekend of 27 and 28 October at Cowes on the Isle of Wight.

The RYA Cruising team will be present, along with other industry experts giving a variety of practical master classes and presentations covering everything from vital safety information to handy tips on boating skills.

The RYA say the practical boat handling and skills master classes will give attendees a hands-on opportunity to brush up their skills or let their crew take the helm, under the watchful eyes of experienced RYA instructors.

Hamble School of Yachting and Sealine Sea School will be providing the boats for these sessions.

“If you’ve ever fancied trying how the other half do it, this is the perfect opportunity,” say the RYA.

Experts from ICOM, Raymarine, Sea Start and Ocean Safety will be there, while MBY’s Tim Bartlett will be making a presentation called ‘See or be seen’.

The social side of the event includes a Saturday night drinks reception courtesy of Alpine Electronics, a hot buffet dinner and disco.

There is also a Muster prize draw – your chance to win top prizes offered by the event sponsors.

Andrew Norton, RYA Motor Cruising Projects Manager said: “We have done a number of these events to date and all have proved extremely successful, with many participants returning to meet up with friends old and new.

“The muster is a great way for sail and power boaters alike to gain valuable advice and information from the experts, and the social events always seem to go down very well too.”

Entry price includes: berthing for one night at Cowes Yacht Haven, free entry to the drinks reception, the hot buffet dinner and disco at the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club Cowes and access to all of the master classes and demonstrations for two people (further crew are welcome – however £25 is payable for each additional person).

The event is also open to anyone who doesn’t wish to bring their own boat, but overnight accommodation is not included in the price; you will need to arrange this yourself, if required.
