Boats could in future be fitted with brake lights to warn other water users when they are slowing down. Florida-based PWC Industries has developed the Safety Alert System, an advanced electronic microprocessor that senses G-forces generated upon deceleration to illuminate an amber LED warning light.
The light doubles as a distress signal as it can be switched to a flashing mode to alert other boaters when a vessel needs assistance. The Safety Alert System will work on any vessel from a personal watercraft to a large boat.
