Canal boat goes down in the Caen Hill flight of locks in Wiltshire
Part of the Caen Hill section of Kennet and Avon Canal in Wiltshire was closed after a hire boat sank in a lock. The Canal and River Trust said in a statement that the boat went down at 1800 on Wednesday. Nobody was injured.
Peter Lancaster, a lock keeper, told the BBC website, “It is very, very rare that boats have come to grief”.
The lock will have to be pumped dry, before a crane can be moved in to lift the boat out.
