Rival brokers TBS Boats and Bates Wharf have joined forces to raise money for children’s charity Dreamflight by cycling from London to Paris this summer
Boat selling rivalries will be put to one side this summer in the name of charity, as TBS Boats and Bates Wharf employees will be taking part in the Riding4Dreams London-Paris cycling challenge.
The fundraising group was set up by Nick Moore, Chris Manners, Mark Harris and Richard Bates, and they are being joined by Paul Knox-Johnson, Nicolas Serra Walker, Jon Jagger, Martin Coburn, Chris Cooper, Joe Dalton, Darren Shead, Alex Small and Steve Hathaway.
Together they hope to raise £10,000 of sponsorship for their gruelling three-day ride, which will take place from July 25-28. The money will go to Dreamflight, a UK-based charity, which allows young children with serious illnesses or disabilities to enjoy the holiday of a lifetime in Orlando, Florida.
Cycling from London to Paris will be no mean feat for the members of Riding4Dreams, who admit that they are: “a group of (mostly) overweight, unfit, pub going regulars who’s cycling experience extends as far as riding to the pub on sunny days”.
At the time of writing, Riding4Dreams was 65% of the way towards its fundraising target on JustGiving.
