Fairline 21 Weekend gets stuck on a weir on the River Chelmer in Essex in this week's best boating photos
It’s every boatowner’s worst nightmare. In this week’s best boating photos we have dramatic pictures as a Fairline 21 Weekend, Miss Behavin’, comes free from her moorings on the River Chelmer in Essex.
The incident happened on Wednesday evening when the boat somehow broke free from her mooring on the River Chelmer near Great Baddow, Essex, and started drifting downriver. It was eventually stopped at the weir at Papermill Lock, having navigated a bend and missed all the moored boats.
Essex Waterways staff managed to secure the boat and pull it to safety. No mooring lines were found either attached to the boat or on the original mooring, leading to suspicions that vandals had stolen them.
Essex Police attended the scene and were checking the CCTV for leads.
