Bavaria and UK dealer Clipper Marine will launch the R40 and E40 at the show next month
Bavaria will launch three new boats at next month’s Southampton Boat Show.
Making their debuts will be the R40 flybridge and the highly anticipated E40, in both coupe and flybridge guises.
The R40, tested in the August 2016 issue of MBY, is a twin cabin, twin bathroom flybridge cruiser with the option of either twin Volvo Penta D6 330s on sterndrives or the larger 370s. On test with the bigger engines we managed a whisker over 36 knots flat out.
The most remarkable aspect of the R40 is that, though it is a 41ft 11in (12.78m) boat, Bavaria has managed to include a full beam owner’s cabin amidships.
Prices for the R40 with twin 370hp engines start from £341,667 inc UK VAT.
The E40 is a slightly different kettle of fish, both dynamically and in its novel layout. The hull isn’t dissimilar to a sailing boat’s in shape (minus the keel, obviously) but with single engines ranging from 75hp-300hp it’s designed for a slightly slower pace of life than the R.
The layout is what’s most interesting, though, with a raised aft cockpit that leaves space below for either one large master ensuite or two double guest cabins.
Depending on what you opt for there, forward you can spec either a fixed double to use as the master or scissor-action berths to give you the option of either a double or two singles.
Available as a flybridge or coupe (known as the Sedan) with a sunroof there’s a way to spec the E40 that will suit most tastes and cruising needs.
Prices for the E40 Sedan with a single 150hp diesel start from £231,300 inc UK VAT and £254,772 inc UK VAT for the Fly version with a 300hp motor.
You can see all three boats on berths M401-M425 at the show.
We will report back on the E40 after we sea trial the boat at the end of this month.
