Three 7.5m Valiant RIBs are to be entered in the Guinness Book of Records for a Portugal to Azores crossing.
It has been confirmed that the recent Atlantic Challenge 1000, comprising three 7.5 metre MerCruiser powered RIBs that crossed the ocean from Portugal to the Azores, will be entered in the Guinness Book of Records as the longest-ever unassisted ocean crossing by rigid-inflatable craft.
The Valiant Patrol 750SD RIBs with MerCruiser D4.2L D-Tronic diesels operating through Bravo Three twin-propeller drives completed the 1,000 nautical miles in 46 hours, 56 minutes and 55 seconds, an average speed of 22 knots.
The non-stop, no refuelling, night and day journey was completed without serious incident.
