Sales jump as European buyers take advantage of exchange rate
While the ever-weakening pound may be sticking thousands on the cost of boats built on the Continent, British boat dealers selling the other are rubbing their hands with glee.
Ancasta, one of Europe’s biggest boat dealers and an agent for Sealine and Bavaria motorboats, claims its turnover from its brokerage business jumped 25% in March and April, and attributes this directly to European boat buyers taking advantage of the strong euro and weak pound.
The company’s brokerage director, Nick Ryley, said: “The increased turnover demonstrates a strong appetite for good quality, well priced boats.
“We are seeing significant European demand at the moment and it has become apparent that the brokerage market is benefiting from the euro to pound exchange rate. This makes it a great time to list your boat for a quick sale to European buyers.”
