See pictures of Eclipse, the 160 metre-long superyacht built for Chelsea boss and oligarch Roman Abramovich
Roman Abramovich – oil oligarch, football supremo, and now undisputed king of the superyachts.
His latest boat, Eclipse, rolled down the slipway at the Blohm & Voss shipyard in Hamburg last week. You can see photos of her in Motor Boats Monthly’s gallery .
The superyacht – the world’s largest – cost a reported £288m to build, and features two helipads, a cinema, a sports complex and a disco.
And just in case former employee Jose Mourinho, with whom the Russian enjoys a tense relationship, is ever nearby, Eclipse sports a German-built missile defence system.
At more than 160-metres long, the boat is bigger than the ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed’s superyacht, which was previously the world’s largest.
Annual running costs of £30m must be enough to make even Abramovich wince, especially after seeing his fortune dip a staggering £24bn last year, according to reports.
