Princess 68 to launch at Southampton

The Princess 68, promising lots of innovation, will hit the water at Southampton

Making its international debut at the PSP Southampton Boat Show, the Princess 68 promises some innovative new features to get show goers excited.

The most interesting of which is a full-beam master cabin amidships with its own stair access directly from the saloon. This gives the owner even more privacy and a clear separation from guests in their three cabins located at the forward end.

In the saloon Princess has opted for a controversial galley-aft layout and, apparently, it has managed to include four forward-facing seats around the helm, which is something you rarely see on boats like this.

The main dining space is cleverly located opposite the galley, so the cook doesn’t have far to go with food and an electric window aft turns the kitchen space into an alfresco bar at the touch of a button.

There is walk-through seating at the bow and an optional hardtop for the flybridge such is the pressure from customers for this slice of big boat luxury.

Other details are reasonably thin on the ground but we do know that the 68 will get twin diesels rated up to 1,400hp for a top speed of around 35 knots.

Southampton, and Cannes for that matter, will also see the official European debut (after the unofficial launch at May’s British Motor Yacht Show) of the excellent S72, which Motor Boat & Yachting tested in Miami at the beginning of the year.
