TweetMotor Boat & Yachting got a sneak preview of Sealine and Sunseeker’s hottest new models when the wraps came off them at the Cannes Boat Show on Tuesday.
Both the Sealine SC42 and the Sunseeker Manhattan 53 are due to make their UK debuts at next week’s PSP Southampton Boat Show but both yards also sent duplicate boats to Cannes in order to impress the lucrative Mediterranean market.

Judging from the initial reactions of show visitors both British yards look to have smash hits on their hands.
The Sealine SC42’s full-beam cockpit seating that slides in and out to create a very large and very flexible seating or sunbathing area looks ideally suited to Med boating, while its sliding sunroof, clip-on canopies and four forward-facing seats will come in equally handy in the UK.
Down below the light-filled galley and saloon area feel bright, airy and contemporary, while the two ensuite cabins are remarkably spacious and very nicely finished.
The unusual aft pillars look much better in the flesh than they did on paper with just enough curvature around the roofline to soften the straight lines and flat surfaces of the hull.
The Manhattan 53 continues Sunseeker’s current trend for underplaying the true size of their boats.
The boat feels more like most yards’ 58-footers, particularly down below, where all three cabins boast improbable floor space and headroom.
The flybridge is equally impressive thanks to a new design of table, which wraps around the grill and wet-bar and could happily seat a party of eight or more.
Like most Sunseekers the 53 also oozes quality, both in its luxurious fit and finish and the weight and solidity of its mouldings.
You can read more about these boats in the next issue of Motor Boat & Yachting and see them for yourself at next week’s PSP Southampton Boat Show.
