Following the successful reinstatement of the British International Harmsworth Trophy at Cowes last August, the Trustees have decided to invite entries from all nations to compete for this, the oldest trophy in the sport, in its 100th year. The contest will be decided on the aggregate results from three separate heats.
The three race dates, venues and host clubs will be:
Sunday August 17, 2003 Poole, Dorset Royal Motor Yacht Club
Thursday August 21, 2003 Cowes, IOW British Powerboat Racing Club
Sunday August 23, 2003 Cowes, IOW British Powerboat Racing Club
The choice of locations include two of the oldest races on the International offshore calendar, the Needles Trophy organised by the RMYC from Poole with the final heat forming a part of the Cowes-Torquay-Cowes race based on the Isle of Wight.
Registration is open to competitors representing nations affiliated to the Union Internationale Motonautique while the rules governing the type of craft; engine and the contest itself can be found on www.cowesclassic.com.
