Broom 430: First impressions of the new cruiser

MBM Boat Tester Nick Burnham has completed his first channel crossing on the brand new 43-footer from Broom

Following the UK launch of the Broom 430 earlier this month, Motor Boats Monthly has taken the new arrival out on the water for the first time.

Nick Burnham chose the cruiser for his first ever trip across the English Channel and was full of praise for the 43-footer.

“Based on the Broom 425 but brought bang up to date, the 430 is big, solid and confidence inspiring,” Nick reports.

“Fortunately whilst the look might be brand new, the quality is everything we expect from Broom, solidly crafted and feeling like it will last a lifetime.”

He also notes that it dealt admirably with the choppy conditions experienced through the Alderney Race during his passage from Southampton to Jersey.

Powered by twin Volvo Penta D6-370 shaft-drive diesel engines, the Broom 430 has a maximum speed of 25 knots and costs from £435,000 (including VAT).

Nick’s full review of the Broom 430 will be published in Motor Boats Monthly this summer.
