Spent a lazy day at the very plush Cala dÓr Yacht Club and met a couple with the best-named boat EVER.
The coastline around Cala dór is riddled with Calas (beaches) and coves to explore. EVen more exciting when the wind is picking up...
Ok, so I didn´t actually MEET the leathery one, but his face is plastered all over the place on the West Coast of Mallorca, which is beautiful (the coast, not Michael Douglas´face)
Ok, so it´s been a while, but there´s a good excuse. The shops in Barcelona are just far too tempting. Anyway am in Mallorca and back on the water.
After lingering in Sete for longer than we were supposed to, we drove north to the marina to end all marinas - Port Camargue.
I love Britain at this time of year. The cities are empty, the beaches are full and sometimes the sun comes out....
Day two in the Languedoc and I meet a Brit boater in Cap d'Agde who is pulling his hair out at the berthing situation in the Med.
It's all change as I swap sombreros for berets, and the boating couldn't be more different.
It's a bit of a shock to the system - five days in a friendly seaside resort and now plodding around Spain's third biggest city.
After nearly a week sitting on peoples´ motorboats and not moving, I finally get out on the water. And the Costa Blanca looks even better from the sea.
Already a week into my trip and I feel like I´ve hardly hit the tip of the iceberg as far as the Med is concerned.
Am settled in Javea for the next couple of days and can´t believe the Costa Blanca isn´t as popular for boaters as it should be.
The sun forgets to shine but I´ve met a group of berthing fee rebels and enjoy a whistle-stop tour of the Cost del Sol´s best anchorages. In the rain.
I´ve decided where I would keep my boat (when I´m a millionaire). The city of Cartagena is buzzy and chilled out at the same time and the marina is to die for.
It´s the end of day one and I´ve been bombarded all day with reasons why the Med is the only place to keep your boat.
Motor Boat & Yachting's Kate Brunel-Cohen prepares to set off on a fact-finding voyage around the Mediterranean.
That settles it. The good Lord must be a yottie or at very least a firm proponent of Murphy's law
As some of you already know, I feel rather strongly about the impending Red Diesel issue
On the whole, us Brits are a hardy lot.
I am not usually a great believer in destiny...
